Hey Guys - Got this figure at the Expo that was being offered when you subscribed to Historical Minature. This was a tough figure for me, being 90mm. Much more detail to show. Anyway, I called it finished and can say that sometimes your last figure is not you best figure. Of course I may have been staring at it too long.

Enjoy the pic and, of course, ALL types of comments are welcome.

Brad, The 5th NY sure did have a slick uniform. You may want to recheck your reference(s) as the knapsack should be black.~gary

Brad, Curious what did you think of the Miniatures Alliance kit? I am a big fan of zouaves and never tire of painting one. I have one of the Miniatures Alliance kits: FFL paratrooper in S. East Asia. Painted it and enjoyed it. This one and the Jaguar zouave coming over the fence are two that I have not purchased or painted.

Regarding the knapsack, Federal troops will more accustomed to wearing the tarred haversack as it repelled rain and elements better than the white cotton havaersack. Check out Echoes of Glory by Time Life series for some great photos.

Enjoyed seeing another zouave! I think you did a good job.

When Roy Hunt gets his zouave bust out, we zouave fans will have the best of both worlds: full scale and a bust. Thanks for sharing!

Best of Everything,

Terry Martin

You've been looking at it too long Brad. I have to take a break from a figure once in awhile and go back to him with a fresh look. You've done a beautiful job with your Zouave. I look forward to seeing it at Tulsa.

Everyone - Thanks for the comments.

Gary - I believe you are right. I used some pics off the internet, and the osprey book, but never had a good pic of the knapsack and became guilty of using the picture of the box art. I usually double check that kind of stuff and somehow I missed it.

Terry - I liked the kit overall, but the fit wasnt perfect overall. I thought the knapsack fit OK until it was painted then I glued it on. You could see light coming from between the knapsack and his back. Nothing a little putty wont cure though. I like their new celtic figure they have out, but I want to do some 54's and 75's now.

Guy - I really only have room for 3 figs in my container, so this one may not be coming to Tulsa. I need to pinpoint my best 3 (with help from my wife) and those will be it. Anyway, cant wait to see you.

Dan - He would be a big Bulls Eye in that uniform wouldn't he?

Brad,
a very nice effort all around. The blues of the jacket are particularly nice. A nice piece over all! Looking forward to meeting you at Tulsa!

Hey Brad,
Great figure, nice paint job. I have'nt gotten around to painting mine yet though I have him prepped and ready to go. I wish you the best at the Tulsa show.
God Bless
Cory

Pete, Matt, Roc - Thank you for your replies.

Marc - Thank you to for your reply. Just like you, trying to get better with each figure. the reds were very hard. Even though I never used any black, It looks as if I used black as the shadow for the reds.

Cory - Thanks. It was because of you that I found out about that offer. So I am much appreciated. Tulsa will be fun and it will be fun to compete again, but most importantly, I want to meet everyone I can and just enjoy being around others that understand this infatuation to paint "little men".

Jay - Definitely cant wait to meet you as well as the others. I was so overwelmed at the Expo, that I didn't get out to meet people like I should of.
