Here are some in-progress pix of the baggy trousers. Not as hard a sculpt as I thought it would be. Just needed to build up the inner legs for a good foundation.

    Thanks for looking

Jason, Your productivity astounds me. I can only wish I had such work habits, though I could start by getting off this darn computer. Nice work on a favorite subject.~Gary (y)

    Thanks fellas!

I started the armature and fleshing out awhile back. Just now starting to clothe. I envision him wearing the summer "white" issue trousers, which if I'm not mistaken, was a lighter fabric. So I might add some more putty to the bottom of the trousers to "hang" more over his leggings.

    Hello, Jason,

This figure is looking very good so far (as customary (y) )

The summerweight trousers were, indeed, made of lighter cloth. You could add some material if you wish, in theory the bottoms of the trousers were not much higher than the leg openings - although by what I have seen, the cut of the Zouave trousers may vary (or maybe it "hangs" differently depending on the size, both of the garment and the individual). I have seen photos of actual trousers and this relationship varies, or at least looks different.
What I would recommend is to give a thought and add more wrinkles and pleats - the pantalon de toile, being lighter than the pantalon de drap, would form a more dense pattern of these. On the other hand, sometimes "less is more" when reproducing a pattern of pleats in miniature, and the real thing does not always look well. Just consider the option.
BTW, I'm sure you know this already, but just in case: the summerweight trousers had no piping.
Are you planning to do a Line or a Guard zouave?

    Regards,

    Dani

    Hi Dani,

Thanks! I was thinking of depicting the 3rd Regiment at Froeschwiller-Worth 6th August. I believe this was a Line regiment. I may choose to paint it as the 3rd because the jacket had the yellow inside the tombeau loop which will make it a little more attractive.
