Hello all!

I want to present a two-figure composition master model, made by our modest studio.

The master-model “Zaporozhye cossack catches a turkish warrior” (54 mm) was made as a special order for one Saint Petersburg toy soldier studio.

The figures pictured on the photo, were covered with silver and black paints.

Horse reins, a turkish sword, a rope and a base, all are temporary. Used just to make the photo.

Handpainted model is 54 mm scale (1/32; 2 1/2″ height); material - tin alloy.

Interesting piece. The composition and subject are quite unique. I think the quality of detail is not quite as crisp or on par with most historical figures of today, but still an interesting piece.

A agree, the figures aren't so detailed. In general, they are usually suffer from the lack of details on master-models.
Detailing comes after, with Hart's painting.
Unfortunately I have no idea in what style those two horsmen were painted, as for we lost traces of this composition in the world of figure making.
Here is another, more recent, Zaporozhye Cossack, made by Hart.
It's not a master model, but a figure ready to be painted. The time spread in between two sculptures is ~ 1 year. I quess, Hart intended to show us a guy , who was told about the captured turkish rider.

In reality, the personage was taken from the Repin's picture "The Zaporozhye Cossacks Writing a Letter to the Turkish Sultan"(1890-91). You can easily find him there.

Excellent Piece!

You have sculpted an actor in my very, very favorite Picture from Ilja Repin!

For information:
Repin painted this picture in two versions.

The larger one is shown at Pushkin-Museum; St. Petersburg, the smaller one at Tretjakow-Galerie, Moscow.

I watched them both there.

And there is a very small third Version, a portrait-painting of the cossac, you sculpted now but in different colours
This third picture I own.
