Keith ... Cheers! :) I'm undecided about the goggles reflection. Being plate glass the reflection will be un distorted, might be a bit much visually. Still I could always paint it out again :)

Hi Mark. Figure is progressing very nicely, unbelievable realism. I really like this one.
I did try the moutainous reflection using xara coral. All I did was to leave the dark grey background and add thin almost imperceptible subtle snowy peaks, using only two colours blue/grey for the light side and purple for the shadow. I was surprised how good it was for such a simple few brush strokes.
Looking forward to the completion of this figure.
    Cheers Keith

My wife hates people like you. After seeing this I have just had to go and order one for myself. Nice job.

Very well done Mark, I like all I see so far. I have taken a look moving away a little from my pc and the realism is amazing. Only the closer view reveals, that this is a painting work.

Minor update as I have a few pieces in to prep ;)

painted the body of the back pack .... AV Olive Drab then AV Khaki and finally Khaki with AV Light Flesh as a Highlight.

I might make the creases sharper but I'm going to do the leather work first to check it balances with the rest :)

    Grüß Di' Mark,

Excellent work on your Soviet Mountain Trooper!

I would recommend that you lighten up the rope to make it pop. Period climbing rope was made of hemp and is very light in color. Here are a few examples from my collection:
