Great work mate looks good to me. A big area like this is hard to get right but I think you’ve cracked.

Thanks again everyone. I think this is near enough now. I ended going for the airbrush option on the back, it's a bit better, but not as I would have liked it. Groundworks the usual Milliput, small stones, sand, a sign from Verlinden, and the wire is from stripped electrical flex. The LRDG badge is a replica off E bay. I don't think I'm using the Mig powders correctly, as I can't seem to get the subtlety some achieve.
    But it's one less,
    Carl.

Now it looks much subtler. Just what one would expect from a good airbrush. This is almost too sastisfyin to justify more adjustments. But, just maybe, we can take one step further to push for that box-art level?

The second picture shows a fair bit of the back, and it is safe to say that the contrast between shoulders and the "vertical surface" EXISTS. What if we mix a bit more white in the airbrush for the edge of shoulders, and a bit more shade towards the hips?

Just a thought. You are much closer than I am. To that entry ticket to the real show.

He looks excellent. You might age the back of that sign, it looks a little clean as it is.

Are air brushes hard to use? I have never used one but have been told they are a really good thing to have.

Very nice. The coat looks like it's coming along quite nicely.

I think you pulled the coat of very well mate considering there isnt much in the way of folds etc to break that large area up a bit.
Its a very nice looking figure and I can see why you have it in your top 5 choice.

    All the best mate

Thanks for the kind words chaps. Well spotted Mike, I forgot the back of the sign.
Airbrushes are like anything else, they need some getting used to, and I'm still learning. But I can see it becoming invaluable.

Carl, excellent painting and it's a definite improvement on the back of the coat. Nice work on the base and a great finish.

I missed this one before, looks great Carl. I've had the same problem covering large areas with acrylics, so I'm interested to see what you do.

    Andrew.
