This is my attempt at the beautifull Young Russian naval infantry bust

comments are most welcomed as I am not near a figure club and only have the internet and magazine articles to use to try and improve

Jay, I think you've done a great job! I especially like the highlights and shadows of the face.

Very good effort, leather looks particularly good, next step that will add alot is some wear and tear on creases and seams with some browns.
Stripes on "telnyashka" ( the vest) may need to be more defined and darker /navy blue - I think - although I am not 100% sure and you may need to check if the colour is correct for the period, there are light blue striped ones as well.

May be 5 oclock shadow? (y)

Overall very good bust and painting
    please post more

thank you all for the comments,Gaudin I thank you especially, because his uniform is not suppose to look leathery,i believe its wool/cotton? I think I used too much brown in the mix. the srtipes on the vest are plagueing me,Im not happy with it yet
    Again thanks

Me bad. I assumed from the way the fabric is creased that it was leather, I doubted wool jacket will fold that much. my appologies.

    Hope this will help

Have a look how leather jacket creases on the picture compared vs fabric coats/"bushlats"

Try masking the stripes with something - should give nice edge to them

Also check out the original photo from which I assume the bust was made - clear fabric, no major wrinkles.

Bushlat does look quite thick but doesnt crease that much
It looks like the sculptor overdid it a bit...

I dont think your paintwork did any injustice

And a little bonus for inspiration = just stambled on by chance whilst looking it up

    Red Fleet Assault Marines(y)

2 lads on last picture killed 17 germans in hand to hand combat. Rambo nervously smokes in the corner.....
