My latest horseman in the BIG scale.
Mounted figures are something of a problem , since at present there are no good ready-made 1/6th horses. This one is a Cindy horse, thickened and lengthened, then with the surface heavily resculpted with air-drying clay.
The horse tack is leather , wood , metal or whatever , a miniature repro of the 1902 UP saddle.
This is a co-operative effort with Cesar Dubon , a US-based scale saddlemaker.
As usual with these projects , almost everything has been specially made for the figure, with the exception of the SMLE rifle, which is a commercial item.

The figure represents Stan Carter, a trumpeter in the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars, who were brigaded with the Warwicks and Worcester yeomanry , in the Australian Mounted Division. In later life Stan was a friend , and he taught me to play the trumpet...

As usual for me , the head is sculpted in Fimo.

And the great delight of such figures is that you can endlessly repose them, since everything is fitted more or less prototypically, and can be removed and restowed .

I suppose the whole job has taken about 150 hours.

The mixture of skills to produce this type of figure is to be admired. Thank you for sharing this I'm blown away by the sculpting of the head alone!
