    Visited Antietam today.
SO many Union mistakes; they should have won that one.

    Antietam is an interesting site.
Smaller than Gettysburg. Frustrating; in that the Union army should have won there, but blew every oppprtunity.
I walked most of it, missed lunch to fit as much as possible in, and wore the heels out of my socks.
Finished the visit as hungry as a Johnny Reb!
(The only time I'll use THAT analogy...)

    Slow start off the blocks.
I visited Antietam yesterday: now there's a site that's replete with "what ifs". At least four major ones.

    Alllllllllmost had enough now.
Going to sweep up a few places tomorrow (I want to clamber up the east face of Culp's Hill, for one), check the book shop here, then stuff my face and get royally drunk at dinner time.

    Got one!
Union Minié ball (3 bands). Sold to me by a really nice guy; if you're in town, take look at this shop.

And Gettysburg Library was having a book sale ($4 for a must-read account of Antietam 1862)

United Airlines. Faultless experience both directions.
The food was amazing. They brought us hot ham/egg/cheese rolls for breakfast after this pic was taken.
I have great respect for the hardworking crew on those flights.

Underway again. Slapping the base colours on....
There's a long way to go.
I think this set will be done in two matching halves; four figs basically the same will need a break halfway.

looks like you had a great trip, and bagged a nice souvenir. A piece of history.
Somewhere, I have an unfired carbine bullet from Gettysburg that a friend gave to me.
I had to drill a hole in it very carefully to remove the powder. :cautious:

Interesting artefact! Dunno how I'd have approached that:
Remove the powder or leave it in? A dilemma...

Welcome back, I seem to have missed loads of alerts for your thread. No hanging about straight back into the paints.

A few days of museums in Shropshire/Cambridgeshire/Worcestershire enforced a break in proceedings.
Back to SNAFU now, so this wee laddy will progress to shading in the forthcoming days.
