    Hey all,
Finished this one a while ago but just got around to taking some shots of it.

Inspired by Bill Horan’s “Ghosts of Chillianwallah”, I used Evolution Miniatures “Big Set” of 1/35 WWII US Pacific Marines to produce this vignette of a squad from the 1st Marines returning from a patrol in the Umurbrogal Hills (aka “Bloody Nose Ridge”) during the 1944 battle for the island of Peleliu, so vividly portrayed in the 2009 HBO series “The Pacific”:

    Hi Brian

Amazing stuff & sort of an "anti-Ghosts" vignette with reverse of lush terrain & bright colours of Victorian era Brits.

    Sobering story telling!

Inspiring to keep pushing envelope beyond pilots to ;)

Thanks for showing it to us.

Thanks all for the kind compliments. The sculpting of the base figures (by Sergey Tavianskiy) beautifully captured the "ragged-assed" look of Marines even before I added any paint. As it was, I did a few modifications to a couple of the characters, swapping out some heads for Alpine or Hornet replacements, repositioning the odd arm, adding helmets to a couple of heads to hint that they were still in a dangerous place, though coming out of the line for a break before being sent back.

    Here's a few more shots:
