Here's hoping someone in the figure world can help me; I am looking for a ready made draft horse that would match well with Tommy's War RHA figure. Ideally standing with it's head up or drinking.

To be honest I am just looking for a ready made figure, I can't model or sculpt so a blank horse isn't what I am looking for, just something off the peg would suit me right down to the ground. If it doesn't exist then so be it ;)

However the reason for my search is a friend was telling that his Granddad survived the destruction of L battery at Nery because he was ordered to water the horse at the pond in Nery village. So I thought it would be nice to do a little vignette of this tranquil moment before all hell was let loose.

BTW Bombardier Baldock survived Nery but was later hit by a run away limber in 1915 and his injury meant he was discharged from the Army.

    Cheers

Thanks Richie I might buy those horses for a Franco-Prussian War project I've got in mind.

Thanks Victor, blimey I didn't even know Scalelink were still going. Those horses look just the ticket and plenty of fiddly bits to turn the air blue ;)

    Now down to the research.

    Well Gents
I ordered the Scale link horse late on Friday and it arrived yesterday, now I call that fast service.

I've put together a dry run using the Tommy's War RFC figure for scale. Now to me that seems just the ticket, what do you guys think?

I like the pose of the horse with his head up and ear pricked up, it's as if HE can hear something approaching in the distance, German artillery may be!!

Now you come to mention it Richie I see what you mean. It does remind me of when I was a kid and we'd put string through a couple of tin cans and stand on them, like a sort of tin can stilts. Happy dayz ;)

Primed and ready for painting. I was thinking of painting the leather tack 'red leather' but I am not sure if that is correct for the time because the current images show black leather tack. Any advice would be welcome.

I've put the Tommy's War Bombardier figure I already as a dry run and it seems to look ok but can anyone tell me how the rope thingy works on the horse and do they come ready made for 54mm scale, cos I have trouble tying shoe laces (I am left handed)!!
    Cheers
