WW1 diorama and figures in progress

    Hello

After my last WW1 diorama containing a plane I was hooked, so I jumped on to my next project, also ww1 and also containing a plane

A French mono plane, a Morane Saulnier has crash landed on the river bed and knocked the pilot unconcious. After a while three kids ice skating down the frozen river are finding this rather unusal "thing" at their playground. The oldest kid is carefully poking the pilot with a stick to see if he is alive...

The figures are a mix of Andrea, Sol and scratch. They are going to wear winter clothing so some modifications is neccesary. The pilot has to be scratchbuild to fit into the cocpit. The boy on the stone is just for the photo, a new figure is on the workbench.

The project its still at a very early stage but its always nice to share work at PF :)

    Cheers

    Per Olav

Very very nice Per Olav. I too am looking forward to this piece coming to life. Is the plane a kit or scratchbuilt?

Nice scene that is coming together there.

The neck of the pilot looks a little bit stiff though. Perhaps its the angle of the photo but perhaps you should try trimming down the neck that is cast on the head and replace it with a wire. Then you can tilt the head more to the side.

    Cheers

    Hello Per Olav!

aha, so you made your choice! I was already wondering what it would be...
Great story! This one will be really fun to do, and it looks like it can be quicker than the last (no airoplane-scratchbuilding...). Only, this means I will have to wait to see your version of WW1 mining...

The setup of the composition looks great also, with a very good focus. I wonder though if you can still make it smaller/ denser, by placing some of the elements closer together, cutting the borders closer and/or cutting a wing at the border or making it overhang? It will certainly work like this, but you'll still have to fill quiet some empty space...

Looking forward to the next steps!
    Best wishes,

    Marijn

Thanks again guys, your feedback is much appreciated.

Janne, the pilot is still in an early stage, I will think of maybe slightly change the position of the head of the pilot.

Mark, Gary, I'll keep you updated.

Marijn, Yes I chosed the easyest project this time :) This is like a "walk in the park" compared to my last project with a scratchbuild plane and four figures.
I agree about the size of the base, actually I have already shorten it a couple of cm to the size showed in the pictures, maybe I should consider to rezice it again...well see.

The WW1 mining idea is still working in the back of my head, I'm not shure yet how to execute it

Radek, I'm still waiting for your DVII project :)

    Again thanks

    Cheers

    Hello Guys

A small update on my ww1 diorama. The boy on the tree trunk is ready, as you may notice I changed the stone in my first lay out with a tree trunk.
I also followed Marijns advice and made the base 3 centimeter shorter on the right side and in the front, not many emty spaces to fill now

    Cheers

    Per Olav,

The composition looks really nice! Does the wooden dowl represent a pole into which the plane has crashed? If so, you might want to give some damage to the wing (folding it around the pole just a bit). If not never mind!

Looking forward to your next step!
