Hello Dear friends, are a new one for the Forum, I'm Pier Paolo Rosso (Red) are born in 1959 and live in Italy (Tuscany), congratulations to all for your Forum, very interesting. I have also entered to receive help, I want to know exactly which clubs have voted for the world Expo 2011, in particular I know the placingsbut, I want to know the names of the clubs, so as to remove a lot of doubts about the votes. For the Italians it is really important. I conclude my first speech by thanking you for your attention and doing the compliments the Swiss of Montreux. Thank you, waiting. P. P. Red

Hi!
Welcome to the Planet, I hope you will like it here.

What kind of doubts are they, Pier Paulo?

Cheers

Hi Uruk, the dubts are the following:
why italian have made 2 different candidate? Some one think it's a spite, Done to Udine club, that was not in thanks for characters allegedly important Italian model. For brightening the souls is necessary to remove the veil on vote.So all will know and assess calmly.
Ciao Pier Paolo

Since Im not a member I surely cant speak on their behalf or comment on the procedure which Im only vaguely familar with. But isnt it first and most the club and their prospect that is validated?

Nationality is or should be second hand. Especially since we have gotten used to such high standard lately. I think its sad IF there is national or regional pride involved in the prospecting and voting?

I would like to remember that there is a site for the World Expo but I cant seem to find it now. Perhaps there is more information there?

Cheers

Hi, here the web : http://wmsf-expo.org .
But there are the data of the votes, if not those generic. In a democracy there it is hoped that the vote is obvious, in order that legal certainty.
In this case, all have confidence in judges who are personality worthy of mondelling, but less in some voter, perhaps my fellow countryman.
P.P.

Hi Everyone! Sorry to be away so long.

I just returned from a very nice week in Montreux, Switzerland - site of World Expo 2011. It is without a doubt one of the most spectacular locations ever selected for an Expo, and I am very excited about 2011. The venue is the same modern facility used for the huge, annual Montreux Jazz festival (one of the largest music festivals in all of Europe), right in the center of town, within easy walking distance of virtually every Hotel in Montreux.

I want to respond to the comments made about the selection process. The voting for this Expo attracted the largest number of society votes (by far) of any Expo. The level of interest generated by the very successful Girona Show was amazing, and Sheperd Paine (WMSF President) went to extraordinary lengths and efforts to give all societies nominated a chance to get their message out to the voting member societies. The vote ended up a clear decision for Montreux, and I think it is now time for all of us who love this hobby to get behind Montreux and work towards making the next Expo another smashing success.

There was a post from someone in Venezuela who commented on the expense of Switzerland. We did find it more expensive than other places we have traveled in Europe - but not by very much. There is a wide range of different dining options - from good, low price Pizzerias to more expensive restaurants. Transportation was shockingly reasonable. Our Hotel gave us free passes on the city bus line when we arrived, and an all-day train pass is just US$30 - you can travel around much of the entire country in a day for that! Trains and buses in Switzerland are immaculately clean, and are a very reliable way of getting around easily.

I'll have more to say on the awards system, and other things associated with the show, but I hope all of you will make a real effort to get to Montreux in 2011. It will be another GREAT party for our hobby!

Thanks for updating, Bill!

Im sure looking forward to it. Plan to get there by car making several stops on the way. Like the Viking ship museum Roskilde in Denmarl, Lübeck, Münster, Nürnberg and Seelow to name a few.

Cheers

Hello Mr Bill, my name is Ernesto, I'm the guy from Venezuela, my intention of my comment wasn't to criticize the location from the next WE, you can do this great show any country of the world, but for me it's very very hard to travel far away from my country, but maybe US or another country from Europe will be a less harder for me to go than Switzerland, maybe Spain or Italy for example. I don't know Switzerland, (I guess is a "perfect" country) but also I know that it is a very expensive country, at less for me it is, I mean Hotel, Food, Travels, etc, etc...
I recognize the big effort that you put in this kind of show and I wish someday to visit and participate for the first time in one of this greatest event, maybe the next one who knows...
Hope you understand that my previous comment wasn't to make a bad crtic about the location of the next WE
Best regards
