    Hi guys

This totally cool bust of Leonidas from "300" is a beauty to paint and I think he's coming along nicely. I wanted to recreate some of the pockmarked surface of the helmet, as seen in the movie, so I bore out thousands of tiny holes with the tip of my hobby knife. I'm pleased with the effect and look forward to getting some more paint on the metal surfaces and picking out the etails with the highlights.:)

The face is finished (more or less), but the rest of the skin areas, and the clothing have only had a base coat applied.

Hope you like it so far.
    Cheers

    Tony,
The looks of the metal is good. I'm not pleased with the hole's. I wonder if it where hole's. I should mention it is from the hammer that is modelling the metal to a helmet (i hope my poor english explains it).
With a light on it good seems like hole's.
But again, the skintone's, the metallook are great.

I was hoping to recreate the pockmarks that form during the casting of the bronze, when the air bubbles escape the metal as it cools, leaving the surface looking like it has acne. Maybe its a bit over the top, but I think it will look better once the shading and highlighting is complete. Thanks for your comments Marc.

Looks good so far Tony. Hopefully after the shading is done the holes will not be so pronounced.

Looks good Tony, I don't remeber the details from the film, but just looking at it I like this way too.
    The flesh looks good!

Tony, the face is well painted, very life like.

I agree with Mark on the helmet, maybe you can fill the holes a little bid.

Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

Tony, the painting is nice once finished but I really don't know how you are going to make the holes less prominent :( I really think they are far way too big and out of scale for sure :(

    Hi Ray

The holes are becoming less prominent, but I agree they are a little too big.
    D'oh.

Tony your work is cool, and you dare to reach that efect on the helmet...

    Hola Carlos

Gracias for your comments. I watched 300 again last night to check on the helmet, and I'm pleased that I did drill all those little holes. I think they look OK, and will look better once I'm finished.

Good luck to the Pumas. I just hope Argentina or South Africa wins the World Cup and keep it on "our" side of the equator, where it belongs. I don't want to see England win. They play a very ugly brand of Rugby and are far too reliant on Wilkinson. I want to see good running rugby, and some tries.
    Cheers
