Strasbourg – the city on Rhine, the historical capital of Alsace on border of France and Germany. In the Middle Ages the city was the important economic center thanks to a successful arrangement on crossing of roads from Italy to Flanders and from France to the Central Europe. In 1201 the emperor of the Sacred Roman Empire grants to Strasbourg the status of «the free city». The free cities coped the prince-bishop. Gradually the power in the city passed to citizens in the person of the burgomaster and municipality. In 1260 Walter von Geroldsek demanded to return all belonging earlier to the bishop, imperious powers. Citizens refused and soon the conflict developed into the open fighting collision subsequently called «Walter's war».
On March 8, 1262 in several kilometers from Strasbourg, in Hausbergen opponents met. Before the beginning of battle there was a knightly duel after which soldiers of both parties rushed to fight. Arbaletchiki of citizens let's to infantrymen of the bishop unite with knights and, eventually, the group of the bishop was crumpled chislenno by surpassing army of citizens. Walter continued to battle even after under it two horses were killed. It suffered defeat, having lost 60 knights the killed and 74 captured. After a temporary truce from July 9 Walter in November was ready to fight again, but lost support of the allies. Some a time later, in February, 1263 he died. It is buried in Dorlikhayma. Strasbourg became the imperial city

Outstanding sculpt. I don't see a reason for a helmet. That face has such a great character that it would be a pitty to put that away after a helmet.

Helmet very beautiful and it it will be obligatory, I yet didn't think up as to place it on a bust. But the face will be not not closed by it, it will be near, it is possible in a hand.

Did bishops have a tonsure in those days? Monks did, but did priests?

    A great face and sculpt.

Eh) it is necessary to show the photo once again. When I do the master model, I very carefully study all materials on the character, a uniform, a fashion of that time, customs. I always try to reproduce precisely the character. At the Bishop as at the spiritual Catholic attendant the head top is shaved, as well as it was necessary at that time)

Please make this available. I didn't notice the tonsure, but on close inspection it was present on one of your original photos, my apologies for missing it.
