Very nice work. Like the browns mixed into the greens. I think his white pants and boots are a bit too clean though.

Agree with Colin, those white pants got filthy pretty quickly. Nice work regardless.

Nice painting, in fact this was my first figure I started painting 6 years ago:)!
I have only 1 comment, the highlights under his armpit. They are a bit strong, since not much light will fall there.

    Greetings John.

Leave the pants alone - it might be early in the day. (?) Not every soldier has to be filthy.

Very nice work. If I was fortunate to be able to paint as good as you, I might be tempted to add a bit of snow to the tops of his boots and on his shoulders etc. as he looks too clean for a guy trudging around in the snow.
    Again nice work! (y)

Mate that is awesome. May I ask how you painted the pants?

    Thanks Rodney :)

I lifting this portion off my blog. Hope this helps. I paint in thin layers to build up the colors. My paint is the consistency of milk.

Took on the challenge of painting white for the winter pants. I think it's decent for a first attempt. I started with a mix of off white & a small amount of burnt sienna as the base before laying on the highlights and glazing in the shadows. I am leaning towards some light weathering on the pants instead of the muddy works. (Had a bad experience with mud, still not proficient with such effects)

Base: Off White + small amount of Burnt Sienna
Highlights: Base + mix of Naples Yellow Hue/ Flesh Base, Titanium White
    Shadows: Glaze with Burnt Sienna
