I have begun the painting of Young's "Viking Warlord" and still have a lot to do on the face.....belt......gaiters and shoes.

Hey Guy - Looks like another great start. I know how you like vikings. Have you got that new book from Osprey? Pretty good read. btw - Loved Tulsa. Plan on being back.

Hi Guy,

thx for these good pics (except the first lol). Now I can see paint detail very well !!!!
I love the hair on the 2nd pic.
It's surely matter of taste, but I do not like the black shadows on the blue shirt. Did you try to shade your blue base color with some Red and Bayeux violet?

Thanks for the feedback JP.

You may not be aware of it but I use enamels and when shading blue use a soft black in the deep creases and blend into the blue. It is my style and I like the contrast it gives when the highlight is applied. What you see is a style of painting different than yours......so will look different as well.

I have to agree with you........that 1st picture is terrible........oh well........I'll try harder on the next round of pics.

Yes, Guy, there is no problem.

Every one chooses his own style.
The most important is to enjoy and like it.
You like it that way, so ... go on :)
I, personnaly, like when there is lots of differents tones in one color (exemple : in blue color I'll have blue of course, but also browns, reds, violets, flesh teints, whites.....) a kind of rainbow :) that's my own personnal style. But I have to admit that it's sometimes difficult for me to keep my work looks "normal" even with all that colors.
