Here is the latest figure I have finished. It is one I have wanted to paint for a long time but it is a very expensive kit and I had to save my pennies for awhile before buying him. Please post any comments positive and negative to help me to keep improving my painting. Thanks for looking.

Mike he is looking great. Fleshtones turned out beautifull and that shield pattern is excellent. The contrasts seem good although some transitions icould be more subtle. But that will keep improving with every piece you paint. Trust me. Beautifull overall result. Congrats.

Thak you sir. I forgot to mention that the sheild pattern is supposed to depict a female and male serpent intertwined (husband & wife). This figure was a gift to my wife (if for any other reason than to buy myself some painting time and golf time ;)

Thanks for your help in paints and painting.

    Mike,

Very Nice!!! Great shield! I've had my eye on this piece for awhile, mainly for the shield opportunity and the padding which you've also done quite well.

How was the raw kit? Flash? Fit of parts? Over all immpression?

Very nice job on a very interesting piece! Congrats!!

    Hi Mike,

I like this one a lot. I really like thie shield. Both sides. The wood on the inside looks really good as well as the weathering on the serpent side.

I really like your treatment of the metals and leather.

The red on the lower half of the figure really stood out for me also. IMO the red on the sleeves seem to lack he same vibrant color as the lower half.

The skintones look nice as well. Did you use oils on this on or acrylics?

    Hi !Mike.
    Amazing work!
    Wonderful sculpting and excellent painting.
I can never paint well like you about the design of the shield.
I also liked the fresh tone very much.
I think this kit is expensive but very wonderful for certain.
You did a very good job to this kit.
    I congratulate completion.

    Hey Mike:

A very impressive job on this stunning figure, Mike. And your pictures are
very nice as well. Like Marc, I really don't have any negative comments to
make. I can definately see a lot of progress in your work this past year.

I also, think you did a nice job on the terrain. But I'd forgotten that you get
some exercise away from the hobby bench with "cow pasture pool". :)

This is the week that the IPMS/USA National Convention starts in Phoenix. I
am eager to see my lovely daughter and also to have reunion with model
building friends who go back to the 1970s. Whoa. . . Perhaps you and I can
finally meet next year when the IPMS/USA Nats are in Omaha/Council
    Bluffs??? Jayhawker

Kevin, Michael, Costas, Mitsutaka, Mr. Barton,Mark, Pedro, Steve, Marc & Jayhawker, thanks so much for the kind words, I truly appreciate it.

Michael; I used acrylics for most of the painting including the skin but used oils for the deepest shadows of the cloth and for weathering. The wood was done with acylics and the metal was first polished then aged with oil paints.

Jayhawker, Hopefully we meet up soon.

    Thanks again everybody!
