This documentary video shows in snatches the Smithsonian's collection of Union enlisted men's sealed pattern uniforms and headdress worn during the ACW. The collection shows samples approved by Union inspectors and which were housed in the Meigs Museum created in 1865, and handed to the Smithsonian in 1919.

Be patient as it is a documentary concerned with the production of the uniforms, mainly portrayed in black and white contemporary photographs, but the various samples of the uniforms in the Smithsonian collection that crop up throughout the video are in colour, These show the variations in colour, for example the sky blue trousers, many of which are a grey- blue rather than the light blue we often see.

Hope it is useful for those seeking to portray the 'correct' colour.

    Cheers
    Chris
