    Nice work Roger.
My only comment is for the horse. (could be the pictures).
I would really like that you lighting up the fore and backhand of the horse more. Specially the uppermuscles.
I think and hope that you understand what I mean.
You did it with the white, but the brown can use more.

Thanks Marc. Yes I understand and was looking at that myself. It wasn't until I looked at the photo's that I saw it. :)

Another beauty Roger. I don't often see Europeans depicted on piebalds, it's an interesting change of pace. Was the choice made through historical references of the Vicomte's mount or is it more a flight of fancy?
Either way it looks fantastic... all round, rider and mount.

    Cheers

    Piotr, thank you.

    Tony, thanks.

Colin, thanks. In these paintings Turenne is shown on a Skewbald so I found a photo of a nice looking one and here it is. :D

Well done Roger..."the great Turenne" as the Emperor would say.

    Thank you fella's.

I've since learned that the Turenne's horse at Turckheim was actually a black & white skewbald known to the troops as Magpie. As you can imagine I'm not that keen on stripping it and painting the correct coloured horse so if anyone asks this is "The great Turenne's" other horse and Magpie is having a rest. :D

Thanx Roger, another new knowledge nugget ;)
To my narrow vision, I always associated "painted" horses this North American cavalry, not European... This opens up some new angles for me to look at painting equine subjects... woo hoo!
