Starting this impressive guy with the metal painting.
Vallejo Metal color is great for base painting of metal, because it covers very well in one stroke and is thin out of the bottle. Steel for the base, drybrush with Silver for highlighting the chains. Drybrush Scale75 Trash metal for tonal variation and AK Silver for highlighting the rivets, because it is very light (lighter than Vallejo silver).

    Hi there

That's a lot of metalwork, coming along nicely as well , will you add any rust effect?

    Who released the figure ?

    Looking forward to seeing more

    Happy benchtime

Really nice metal work and a good start.

The cuirass and whatever those things are on the hands are unusual; what ( East Europe Viking / Varangian Guard?) reference is the figure based upon, as it's not like any I have seen before?

This is the sculptor vision of the Varangian, I think there is a reenactor dressed like this. Leather cuirass was not unusual, as for the hands protectors-we will never know exactly, because leather cannot preserve through the ages, but I've seen drawings with similar (if not the same) protection.

Painting the cloth and leather equipment, I will add satin varnish over the leather later, after finishing the effects ;)

In order for Vallejo Metal Color metallics to show their best, you need to use a black glossy base for them.
By the way, for chain mail it is also good to use a black satin or matte base ....
