    Still available here http://www.milminwh.com/regt_s4_ww2.htm

Fear not it's got both medals and ribbons ....albeit small , nay tiny ! ...lol

Couple of references ...feel free to add any others !

I also have a resin seal which I will paint up as below and put on base rather than a nameplate

    IMG_0432.JPG

Its all about fun .....or madness in my case

Only one or two ...but rather smaller .....Carole always said size isn't everything.....lol

....of course ...and a heck of a lot holding my breath .....might have to have a "suggestion" of some .....oh and to make it more interesting ...I added more scrolls on the rear ( as in reference pic )

Face done , and chin chain

    Stay tuned ......

    Happy benchtime

    Hi to all

Couple of pics ( Iffyvision of course ) of the face , I did some puttywork on nose and chin a bit, and redid the eyes ....not that they show ...it's a difficult face to paint being in shadow with the headwear

Quite happy with it , not going to play around too much more ...it's got character and with all uniform painted up will look good

Completed the chain ...pleased with that

    He's also got a marine haircut !

Started on the collar lace , then will finish collar off , then will do the rest of the front cords , then the sash ..that should be fun ! ....then finally the headwear

That just leaves , the mace and hand ( gloved ) and the Marine seal on the front

    All comments welcome

    Thanks for looking

If I thought there was a market, I would sculpt a 200mm full figure. But if there isn't going to be a market, persuading anyone to cast and sell it is likely to be a lost cause. Were I to proceed I would also need good quality references.

Not sure how this sold when released but well I think especially on the American Market

Would be impressive in 200mm ...the sash details in particular the battle honours

As for references , I'm sure the Marine Band would assist

The scale on this one is slightly over 1/12th I think although might have been marketed different

How would you work on bearskin ...putty covering and textured ?

Just so, the texturing (with a 15 blade scalpel) does take a long time and on a large bearskin I need to do one quadrant or equivalent at a time.

That picture of the Drum Major marching outdoors shows perfectly why the Bearskin rarely looks right on larger scale models, it has masses of volume but no density and no real texture.
In miniature it always ends up looking too smooth or to compensate the sculpt goes too far the other way at it ends up looking like shaggy rug. Very difficult to model and to paint for that matter. I am intrigued to see how you tackle it, not being brave enough to even attempt it myself.

There is also a debate to be had on whether a Guard Bearskin is really appropriate headgear for the US Military ;)
