Saw this on Ebay from China... therefore it's some company's piece. I like it and was curious as to who makes this. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

Looks like a Chinese recast of a Russian figure.

Interesting with wind blown hair and all. Definitely a recast counterfeit, was just curious as to the original company. Not too important in that I have my next 5 figures planned and they are all classics. That otta keep me busy. But I was a bit intrigued.

    Thanks Felix and all!

The original figure is released by Irbis Miniatures.Saddly the pics you have uploaded are the same pics Irbis is using to promote this piece.Judging by experience the sculpting and casting of the original piece should be flawless. The figure has indeed been hijacked. The original goes for something close to 60 euros (shipping not included) while the chinese recast retails for less than 25 euros so you can use pricing as a definite way of judging wether it is a recast or not.It is quite strange that Irbis never advertised this piece given how popular are lately.

Thank you, Oda for the information. I completely miss out this one. My guess is right it is a recast of a Russian figure.

Exactly.Your experience gave you a very secure guess indeed.I found out this figure about a month ago while going through Irbis' catalog. It completely defies me why they have not advertised it.A lot of potential for this figure.I plan to order it through my favorite retailer (Berliner Zinnfiguren) and perhaps make a few adjustments in order to fit into a subject I have in mind.More on that in a future post though.I trust you'll be getting it too, being the dedicated collector of samurai figures and Japanese history specialist we all know.
