    Hello All.

My Fimo clays arrived and this time I will try a scene from WW2 era. I like a scene in one of my books and decided to try with 1/3 Fimo, Sculpey mix as Mr.Odell suggested. Well mixing them was bit tiring but really really changed a lot in material specifications while giving shape . I am at the very begining stage but wanted to share..

    Cheers,

    Serhan.

    I agree with Roger!

Furthermore I'm fascinated by your simple but effective approach of making tiny impressions to outline the sculpting. I've not done a 'relief' sculpture before. Curious to know if others start them the same way? What would you do if you had multiple layers or a subject partly on top of another?

    All the best,
    Dan

    Hello.

    Thank you Roger and Dan.

In the case of overlapping objects, I will finish the details on the one positioned farest from me and after start detailing closest object by adding its new layer.

    Cheers,

    Serhan.

Another big project, I like the fact you are not put off by the scale of it! How are you getting on with the clay mix - finding it easier to use?

    Hello Rich!

It made very effective upgrade in detailing of the clay. Now more easy to add small details and curves. Carving also more easy.

I am not sure if its correct definition but, I sense " stickyness " of the clay reduced. Detailing tools are more freely moving out on the surface of the clay by this way.

Also, I can remove out very small ammount of the clay more easy without defecting rest of the details which are already done.

This was very very usefull tip and thanks for sharing such experience (y)

    Good to know!

The thing I like most about this particular mix is that the green shade reveals the detail better and I find I can judge shape and depth more easily. Also the clay is more elastic and does not crumble as out-of-the-box Sculpey firm has a tendency to do.

I agree about the folds and the general composition of each figure. Eyes look a little flat to me in the last photo. Suggest that you work on rounding (semi-round?) the eye balls and then add eye lids, folds, etc. Feel free to disagree and carry on. :)

    All the best,

Thanks for your comments Roger and Dan. I will check points you have mentioned.

I am not sure about neck details of 2nd. figure from the left. Reference photo has many dark places and I could only imagine neck part of shirt. Anybody has idea about this detail?

    Hello.

Thank you for the information Dan.

Yes you are correct about eyes and its details. Frankly, I most afraid to work on eyes and hands. I must more practice on those parts. I do something on eyes on both figures and its really annoying :D

    Thanks for looking.
