Jak už jsem psal jinde, je to skvělá práce. Ve všech směrech.

As I write elsewhere, it's amazing work. In all aspects.

    Cheers Borek :)

That is such a moving piece of work. I can think of a couple of mates that I could paint this up for as remeberances.

The Leading Seaman badge on the left arm should be on a cloth patch like the branch badges on the right. The long service stripes should be less angled as well. That aside an excellent hemi figure.

Very few British naval figures out there, this is one of the best

The badges on the right sleeve are correct: Seaman Specialist (missile, torpedo and lightning), marksman (crossed rifles) and navigator yeoman (pair of dividers). It is a truism that yesterday's working uniform becomes today's dress uniform. Square rig was routinely worn at sea, as can be seen from various WW II films of the time. Rating and branch badges were then in red, with gold kept for dress uniform. Now there is separate sea rig and square rig is kept as No Is, with gold badges. Red badges are kept for the Sea Cadets. The figure on the poster is in Guard Order and would have white gaiters in addition to his white belt.

This photograph is of HMS Hermes Ratings and Officers in Guard Order (https://www.alamy.com/sailors-from-...ic-mike-walker-portsmouth-image185921307.html). Interestingly the officer is shown with long black gaiters, a practice no longer seen. Also of note is the dearth of medals worn after a period of peace. Most personnel who have served in the last decade or two are usually seen wearing several campaign and Jubilee medals.

A fitting tribute; have a link to the Navy having served an apprenticeship in Devonport Dockyard and later helped prepare ships for the taskforce. Amazing what was done in a short time. My brother in law served; stoker on HMS Plymouth.

I'm awaiting the bust from Gordon so that I can come up with a suitable mounting for him. I was thinking of a mooring bollard with a fouled anchor on front and a three strand rope around the base. I was also contemplating using Slater's letters to put HMS Clyde on the cap tally to match the poster. Any-one not wanting the name will then just have to gently scrape it away, but letters in situ do make painting the name much easier. A full size figure would also look good.

    Nice idea Mike

Personally I would not use the bollard but a good idea , adding the name is a nice touch in keeping with the poster

    Look forward to this release

Navy blue at the ready !

If it's possible, given the subject matter, could you use the poppy with the anchor on it from the poster as a base. I personally think that would be a very fitting base.
