Hi Guys, I thought I would show you the progress on Darren's (Tommy's war) 9th Lancer.
I hope to have it finished for a mag article for November so got to get it in soon.
On to the reins now & the update set that Darren sent out is great but I think I need a new optimiser lens o_O
    All critique welcome...

Very nicely done. I don't think the lance would have a pennant on active service, only for parades.

Thanks lads, I am using artistic license on the pennon as I thought it would add to the drama of the charge!:)

Outstanding work. But I recommend that you do the eyes of the horse again.
Horses let there eyewhite seen only when they have fear. (somebody from a manege told that to me)
I thought the horses from the Lancers where trained into battle and are used to this. So no fear I think, and no eyewhite seen.
    Only my opinion.

Just to warn you the reins are fitted wrongly. The "Universal Reversible Port Mouth Bit" is a replacement for the double bridle of a bridoon bit (small ring snaffle) and curb bit. The top rein should fit to the ring of the bit (as it's the replacement for the bridoon) and the lower rein should fit to the first next hole. A rein fitted to the end of that bit would put one hell of a lot of pressure on the horses jaw (remember there's a curb chain under there!)

Thanks martin, Oh Bu**er, I should have done a bit more research...(n)
I had added the reins & got the base coat on, so I think a careful cut & shut job & re-fit may be require..maybe I will stick to busts...
    thanks again

Well, Thanks Martin, I got away with it :woot: a decisive stroke of the scalpel got the reins cut & I was able to replace correctly! Phew!
I will hopefully post some finished shots soon,
    Thanks again Martin,

Well, got to call time on this as I have a new WWI project to start next week so I will get this base mounted properly & clear the bench :)
A bit to do to to finish the leather work & the satin varnish is still drying but should dull down enough on the (now modified!) reins...Thanks to the tips & hints & keeping me on the right track guys
Let me know your thoughts as I appreciate the feedback...(y)

Mark, a grand job you have done and I'm sure it will look even better when on it's proper base.
Will be using this thread for ref for when I start mine.
