    Hi Dufour

Nice to see you posting a flat as a V bench , a fine subject matter with the Mameluke

I presume it's in oils , nice blending as well

Quadriconcept ....had lots when I first started ..no idea where they are now ! ...lovely details , I believe Historex might have some still available in their discontinued lines

    Following with interest

Very nice and a very different challenge from painting figs in the round.

I experimented with sculpting bas-relief figs in the 60/70s (I must say not very successfully). They were done on Plasticine and lost (or crumbled away?) long ago, but your efforts may make me give flats a go sometime.

Cher Dufour, great work on this. I think I have this one somewhere. I have three suggestions if I may.

    1. I paint my flats on a temporary matt black back ground in the first place. Have a think about making on up. I use an old cheap picture frame, and paint the flat within that. I know why you have kept the polystyrene the figure comes in, I have sometimes used this myself. I just think that if you use a black background from the start, it helps you to see what you are aiming at, what you what the end result to look like.

    2. Have a think about cast shadows. This can be tricky to get right, but worth it.

    3. Consider stepping away for a day or two, maybe longer. Your work on this is already excellent and I am afraid you might 'over paint' the piece. This would be a shame as it's really good.

You are a great advert for Quadri Concept. (y)
