If the reports we here about the decline in Russian naval capabilities are to be believed, the sub is most likely lost due to faulty navigational equipment or ran out of fuel.

Like the stuff you hear them come out with about our capability to deal with a Paris-style attack.
It's all utter rubbish. We'd be massacred with a far higher death toll.

We're not even prepared for snow.

Our politicians like to talk the talk on the armed forces, but their weasel words are not matched by their deeds. When they talk about "streamlining" and "modernising", these are just euphemisms for "cutting" and "slashing".

Our new aircraft carriers won't be ready until the next decade - and even then the talk is that only one will be operational, with the other one being kept mothballed. And the rest of our surface fleet has been reduced to such an extent that it's now more of a glorified coastal defence force than a blue-water navy with any real clout. If Argentina decided to have another go at taking the Falklands, we'd be unable to stop them this time. The men and the ships and the planes just aren't there any more.

Such a relief to discover the only assault ship the Argentinians have sank at it's moorings recently through neglect.

Yes they are down in FI plus there is a bigger garrison at MPA than the last time. Plus you've got to factor in the Argies have an even worse state of affairs than ours their forces are still using kit from the 70's which iis now obsolete cant get replacement A/C due to their credit rating and the UK's ability to stop sales going through due to British made components and then there also the small issue of this http://en.mercopress.com/2013/01/24...med-of-the-santisima-trinidad-sinking-in-port

Ah well that's a relief. Every cloud and all that! :ROFLMAO: :joyful:

Just as well really. Because it still doesn't alter the fact that we would now be unable to do anything like what we did last time, and its a sorry state of affairs to be relying on the French to monitor foreign subs in our own waters.

The article says in waters off the Scottish coast but then does not say how far off. With our paranoia it was probably some distance off in international waters. Another stupid scare similar to the Russian bombers off the British coast which were in international air space. Having to rely on another nation to search for us is just a sign of priorities here.Remember it is more important to provide our prime minister with his own aircraft than to have aircraft to protect the country.

Yeah that was a bit daft. They made out like it was something new, not something that's been going on for over 60 years.

Video footage on facebook just now showing what appears to be FSA shooting the pilots whilst still parachuting to the ground looks like any chance of the Russians not bombing them are now slim to nil and have shown the world that the so called "moderates" are just as happy to commit war crimes and have now lost any moral high ground.

The navigator is now confirmed rescued, fortunately. The pilot is sadly dead. And yes all those "moderate" rebels chanting "Allah Akbar". Massive own goal for the Turks, they've not done their Turkoman "brothers" across the border in Syria any favours at all.
