I think many flat painters can tend to be like a lone wolf, carrying on their hobby in isolation. It is a small hobby compared to even ours, if you get the chance visit Kulmbach in Bavaria when they have the Zinnfiguren Fair, I promise you will be amazed at what is available.

Cheers Simon

Some flats are just too well made for me to pass up.
"The Collector" is in a frame, so you may see glare from the glass. My family think it was meant to represent me, but I have a bit more hair Flat of The Collector 2023.jpg

The knight is mounted on a pedestal because I couldn't get it to stand upright, but it works with the figure.

This of George Washington was originally a plaster demi-round (?) meant to be a wall decoration paired with Abraham Lincoln. I found both on eBay, but Abe was too damaged to be saved.

Found The Duke of Wellington flat while tidying up the work bench area. This must be fifteen years old, at least. Likely I bought him unpainted at the annual MMSI show in Chicago.

Catching up a bit here

Like the Collector and the Wellington , looks a big scale ?

As for Jane .....they look challenging to paint but certainly look really good

Thanks for sharing

Hello, Nap -
Back from trip, so I can reply to your kind post.
The Collector is about 3 inches high and the Duke is 5 1/2 inches tall.

Scales? I do not have a note on that from the time of purchase.

Wow, wonderful display, the Segom set is a classic and beautifully done and all so small, do you know who engraved the molds? I probably did know a long time ago. The Braune diorama is excellent highlighting the true beauty of flats.

Cheers Simon

Very good, I never completed the Egyptian set but it looks really good displayed that way an indeed does the Golgotha set, very impressed.

Hi Simon,

The older editors and engravers have passed on. Unfortunately, so has Segom. I do remember seeing another similar Sacre set in a Christian Tirana/Boverat/Bretegnier catalog many years back but that was when I was an active member of the Int Flat Fig Society then

Hi Victor

I’m always amazed at seeing flats painted, a skill set I’ve not got for sure

Liking the painting on these and the presentation brings out the details of each piece well ....the whole telling a story

Thanks for sharing

Have fun @ the bench
