These look really rather nice, being printed I'm guessing they have to be a reasonable thickness to stop warping. I agree though if this is the start then with some time and finesse there may be a whole new renaissance for flats, exciting times.

I painted this one last night as a gift for a friend of my wife's who manages a pet shop. Done in acrylics, mostly wet on wet. This one was a "freebie" with my recent first order from Centurion Miniatures in France. It is a fraction under 80mm top to bottom.

Not really the sort of thing that interests me to paint but I post it out of interest because it is a 3D designed and printed "flat" or relief. It is in resin, about 4mm thick in some edge areas, 1 or 2mm in others. Not as contoured as a "demi ronde" more like "quartier ronde", but far more contoured than a zinnfiguren and less finely defined.

Wow Rob that's really nice, colourful and unusual. Good strong vibrant colours on bird and the foliage. Don't know about you but I hated painting foliage. Well done she should be very happy with that.

Thanks guys, just a bit of fun, It was useful to test the pink, lilac and mauve against the dark green as that is probably the colour scheme I will use on the garland of the witch figure I am doing.

I love flats and generally use them to compose box dioramas. This mammoth set is from W Braune editor.

Very nice diorama Victor, flats really do.lend themselves to this kind of presentation. They look damned good as does the rear picture, really good to see.

That scene is wonderful, very clever design.
This type of display is what flats do best, nicely displayed single figures are great but compact vignettes and dioramas are where they really shine.

Very nice set, lovely selection of eras and uniform styles amongst those.

Really nice, I know how tricky the Samurai can be to paint in that size, really very good.

    Hi Simon and Rob

Thx for yr kind comments. I generally use flats in dioramas. Here are a couple of ancient scenes.

Victor they are brilliant, really love box dioramas like this and yes flats are the perfect figures. I have also seen the huge dioramas in the castle at Kulmbach, twenty to thirty thousand figures on huge scenic bases depicting historical battles. I suppose that's why they are in castles, normal homes don't have the space.

Lovely dioramas Victor. There is real art in painting the figures, scenery and backdrop necessary to put a scene like these together.

    Hi Simon and Rob

Thx for your kind and generous words. IMO, I guess the box diorama is the best way to display flats in a reasonable space. Except for the mammoth piece which stands on a cupboard top, the rest of my flats shadowboxes are fairly flat and are displayed on the walls.

Here’s a few more pieces. I’m sharing them on this forum as I want to help promote the beauty of zinnfiguren, largely overlooked by the 3D community at large

Great stuff Victor, these are really stunning display pieces, there is certainly a lot more artistry in the flat world than 3D. Keep on knocking them out you certainly have a great talent

    Cheers Simon
