The Revenge of the New Masters!

    On July 6, 1918, an uprising broke out against the new lords of Russia in the previously prosperous Russian industrial city of Yaroslavl...

    ... at the mouth of the Kotorosl River in the Volga in the European part of the country, 282 kilometers northeast of Moscow.

    Some conservative (and mostly tsarist) activists want to shake off the oppressive regime of the Bolsheviks, who seized power with their coup in October 1917.

    They are joined by many citizens from bourgeois circles - but also by many workers whose loyalty the Bolsheviks could count on so far, who are now fed up with the "war communism" of the new authorities and their feared secret police "Cheka"!

    This is the only way to explain that the insurgents managed to drive the "red" troops out of the city by July 21 and arrest and imprison those who cannot flee, including deaths...:

    The headquarters in Moscow reacted immediately and mercilessly to the events:

    New troops are hurriedly brought in, which initially completely include Yaroslavl. Soldiers from Asian minorities are predominantly used - they hardly speak or read Russian (or not at all) and therefore cannot communicate (and cannot show solidarity) with the insurgents.

    Then the Bolshevik artillery began to shoot the city together on schedule...

    ...supported by red air forces who dropped bombs over Yaroslavl.

    More than 2000 buildings are destroyed or badly damaged, more than 600 inhabitants die!

    When Yaroslavl had to surrender to the Bolsheviks for mercy and disgrace, armed associations of the "Cheka" first entered the city...

    ... because now the revenge of the new masters is beginning!

    Anyone who appears even suspiciously distant, actively participated in the uprising or even sympathized with him, is arrested.

    On July 28, 1918, members of the Cheka shot 428 residents of the city after brief and summary "trials" ...
