I think this sculpt may be destined to be a classic! Great work by Kaz Tomori, released by Model Cellar. Figure painted in acrylics with a touch of printer's ink because I just can't manage NMMs yet :) Chauchat gun from JonSmith Modelbau painted in Alclad and acrylics. Trench setting is handmade and housed in a relic Adrian helmet. I can't help but think that the ghost of the soldier who wore it helped this one a good bit.

A thousand thanks the PF folks who commented and encouraged the project, and special props to Andy Belsey and Mike "The Kiwi" for all the info and technique I learned and swiped from their recent books.

I don't think you could have displayed this figure any better, work on the figure and groundwork are great and the mounting into the Adrian helmet just elevates it even more, fantastic combination.

    Great work!
Very well done on creating a well-balanced set-up. I don’t usually like stuff done in helmets, but here it really works.
Loving the mud effects as well.

    Matt,

Absolutely FANTASTIC all the way around: painting the figure, the groundwork, the relic helmet ...and even the way you mounted the helmet into a wooden base (I'm guessing custom made by you?)

I hope to have the figure in full production soon.

Thanks Paul! I’m lucky to have learned woodworking from my grandfather, so I do generally make my own bases out in the garage:). Thanks for releasing this great piece.

How could I have almost missed this Masterpeice final posting? Incredibly well done, Matt, as always.

The SBS was great to follow, too, btw. This is one of those pieces that belongs in a museum for all to see!

Great looking figure and mind blowing creativity, brushwork, groundwork all the wee bits and pieces and the attention to detail and, finished off with sticking it in a helmet, absolutely brilliant.

Beautifully landed & an inspiring WW1 project.
Really like how you finished the groundwork around sandbags & his feet. Certainly a figure display you should be of justifiably proud of mate.
