The bath (under construction)

This is my new project .
A reconstruction based upon the work of Jean Leon Gerome .
    Called The Bath .
The scene shows 2 female figures in an oriental bath house .In the background there is a water fountain as water source .
I started using some parts from the Preiser academic figures range . A scale between 1/35 and 1/32. A large part was resculpted using Milliput . Details of hands and feet are very poor because of the plastic casting .
The sitting figure is using a wooden construction because the used water has to run through. This construction is made from plastic rods.
The standing figure is a negroid type . I used a head from the hornet range and both hands are scratch build.
The clothing from the second figure is made with duro . Some extra details ( such as juwels )are made with copper wire, lead foil and putty .
The walls are made from plastic card covered with milliput .
The fountain is scratch and made from milliput and plastic card .
In the completed version ,the water coming from the fountain will be made with vallejo artificial water.
A cute detail are the special shoes in front of the scene .Because of the chemical products -used in those days- to remove unwanted hair these shoes where very high to avoid contact with the floor . I made them from milliput .

The figures are ready to be painted and primed with grey primer.
    to be continued .

I like where this is going. Are you going to make a shadowbox out of this?

    Marc,
Unusual and very nicely done subject. A little additional work might be in order on the sitting lady's back to, either, add more definition to the spines recess, or less the whole length from shoulders to buttock if she is to have a rounded figure as in the painting. Still I'm not complaining, what you've made so far is simply wonderful and I will be looking forward to seeing it painted.

Well, I admit, turning to some of the old classics and using them to make a painting into a vignette is wonderful to see.

Thanks for sharing your work with us, now I have some ideas of where to search for inspiration!

    Cheers
