After last week's WIP post, I managed to get this done today. I titled it "The arrival of the Englishemen in Virginia-1585," and yes, the extra 'e' in Englishmen is on purpose. It's the title of the first chapter of the 1590 work that features the John White illustrations on which the scene is based. There are a few more details than in the previous pictures I posted, but they might be hard to see. It's really challenging to capture pics of something so small, carefully lit, and behind glass. The first picture shows it before I closed it up, lit brightly. It, of course, looks better in person. I'd love to hear feedback. Painted in oils over acrylic base coat. Looks great a lovely job but I fear you'll spend the rest of your life at shows saying "The arrival of the Englishemen in Virginia-1585,the extra 'e' in Englishmen is on purpose. It's the title of the first chapter of the 1590 work that features the John White illustrations "

I'm not sure about this concept of the boxed diorama (even well done)
Seems a bit like a pause frame in a vid etc
But whatever peels your skin I guess

I have always thought that was the idea of a box diorama, to capture a moment.

I agree Jeff,a box-diorama is supposed to represent when the director says "Cut". I can't see the difference with any other model of a figure, surely that is what we are all trying to achieve.
