Now that i still have the luxury of free time i thought i d start another beautiful bust Santa brought me this Christmas.
It is a bust from Ares Mythologic. Face is done, everything else is primer or basecolor. Let me know what you think.
    Cheers.

    hello
true art very well done.one should resist paint the cuirass in leathers.roman muscled armour was always made in bronze thinned or gilded ect.
the roman leather armour is an product from the 50 ties of films like ben hur ect...
in metall the body armour would look much more historic accuarte.please do not mind
i want not spoil your brilliant paintings with nosy comentars.i can only admire your artistic abilities.
which i have not i freely admitt
    cheers

Marcus it s always good to learn some histortical facts about a figure, even if we sometimes choose to do a mora fantasy interpretation of it. No spoiler in that.

The flesh tones have a real mediteranean look which I think look spot on for this figure. Very nice indeed.

    Hi Dimitrios,

Nice Christmas present , I have one on its way so looking forward to receiving that .

I like the Ares range, have you seen the nice Samnite bust as well ?

Love what you have done with the flesh , spot on I feel , can I be cheeky and ask for your mixes and methods ..for my little book of info !!!!

It very interesting like you said about the leather armour , and is prompting me to move awy from this to be historically correct , like Marcus has posted .

Any thoughts on the cloak yet ?

Look forward to seeing more on this one .

Thank you all guys for leaving your comments. Really appreciate it.
Kevin this is actually the first kit from Ares Mythologic i paint, but they do have some very interesting releashes lately. The truth is that this kit had some casting problems, the more troublesome beeing the chain hanging from his neck wich was incomplete.
As for the flesh i used a mix of the following josjona's acrylics: Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Napples Yellow Hue, Brown Madder and Sap Green.
I also chose to paint the cuirass bronze after Marcus post and now i m puzzled about the tunics color. Maybe i ll go for a red or deep blue one with white scarf and tunic. Not sure yet though.
    Cheers.

Some progress here. Painting all around to get a good ballance with the bronze cuirass. Also tried a different backround because the camera seems to leave out color red making everything more bluish (the ribbon is actually painted lilac), hope that after everything is in place it will calibrate better.

Gordy thank you for your nice comment.
Rodrigo my friend for the metal parts i used stormtroopers bronze and gold and ivory black, burnt umber and sap green from oil colors. Made a full range from highlights to shadows and painted as if painting non metalic parts with oils. I also added some glazes of oil colors where the metal comes close to other fabrics, like red under the cloak and lilac above the ribbon to imitate reflection.
