That series of books is ready good... I have 4 of them... Swords and Knives, Firearms, Soldiers and Battles. The first three have great reference photos of uniforms and weapons both authentic and reproductions. It's helpful to see photos of the actual items as opposed to coloured drawings or paintings.

Looking forward to more progress on this figure.
