Unfortunately, there is not much regular eBay users can do about this, as the complaint must come from the originator of the figure through VeRo program. VeRo really works... Taesung from Alpine used it number of times to stop eBay pirates from selling copies of his figures.

Stu, I think it is worth investing some time to find out how VeRo works so you could stop this guy.

Forgive me for not knowing who owns/operates Stormtroopers, particularly if he is a member here. The best course of action is for us to let him know about this, and he must follow up with eBay. The owner of the copyright is the only person who will have any standing to do anything to get the auctions shut down.

Beyond that, we can alert each other and other modelers to avoid this seller. But there's really not much else we can do.

Hi

Firstly many thanks to keith to bringing this to my attention. I would also like to thank you all for your kind words and support.

I have contacted / reported the items so its upto ebay now although I will be contacting them and paypal for more info etc and for their policies on assisting fraud and helping counterfeiting.

Its an age old problem and its not going to go away as people always want a cheap product. I run stormtroopers for fun and put high expectations on what I do and what I sell. I take pride in my small company. I hope I give good service ,cast great products well and back that up with support and try to go the extra mile for my customers.

This guy is killing my fun !!!! he is nothing but a t%&t, a slimey low life barstoolerd. I will try to sort this the proper way but if this fails I will resort to plan B.

Unfortunately it would seem that all my pictures are now going to have a stormtroopers logo blasted over them although its pretty obvious from the Hungarian t!&t that pics of the parts is all it takes to make people happy !!!! . I must be doing something seriously wrong !!!!!!!

I will be contacting my trade outlets to see if I can trace this slime ball as he hasn't bought them from me !!!

Unfortunately I doubt I can do nothing about this .....I have noted the large number of perfect English replies and the fact that people are very happy with his service. Funny they wouldn't have a service if it wasn't for me but heyho they really don't give a F,,,k about me do you !!!!!!!! Yes You the Buyer that is reading this also !!!!! You are the PROBLEM.

I will watch and wait,,,,,but if the fun aint there then,,,,,,,,

stuart

Oh, duh! Sorry, Stu, I didn't know that you're Stormtroopers, and I hadn't read the whole thread. You've taken the most effective steps, at this point, short of going after him in court, insofar as those means are available. I hope eBay and PayPal follow up appropriately for you.

I reported this Hungarian fellow on the 3rd of August here, but that's to no avail as long as the rightful owner of the copyright doesn't take action, unlike Stu. As modellers we are better informed nowadays then say forty years ago, so we know a lot more about new releases, who produces what figure or bust, by whom it is sculpted, all illustrated by box art or in progress shots in fora like this one, so no serious honest modeller can plead ignorance and buy from these shady recasters, so who buys their stuff ????

Yet again someone with no shame, I know some of the stuff he has ripped off. verlindon , Pegaso, young's Miniatures to name but a few. such a shame.

Hi Guys ,

A much thought out reply has been received.....ready for this........

Yes that was it !

I have sent another message but I reckon he is just plain stupid or not bothered

This is a plague indeed.
Stuart, I am stunned with the cost of a bust like these and with all you have to pay to get this beauties in market. Never thought to be so expensive.
Piracy is a felony and I dont understand why Ebay let this things happen???

cheers,
Pedro.

It is certainly not a good painter who will buy a recast copy ! Why waste hours of painting a bad copy of the original ? I don't understand it. Moreover, even if the recast was a perfect copy of the original, you must be a ¥*£€¥'l£¥€ to buy a recast.

Here is his reply ...think he is getting jittery ...

Hello.
I sell at such price as he wants.
Lady also has a small price to your auction.
How these questions ?

No idea what he is on about though!

As a manufacturer I can testify to the expense, and sheer effort to produce miniatures. I think most producers now make little
profit from their ventures but are driven by a passion for the hobby, and the hope that the effort is received warmly from the model community. It is galling to think that someone can steal hard earnt efforts and people can buy from them to save a few pounds. Some weeks ago a thread declared that the model figure community never had it so good, but it also maybe the high water mark as some manufacturers start to ask themselves is it worth it. My sympathies Stu, I hope you can sort this out.

Hi All,
There is another prolific one, I warned Steve K. about this one sometime back as I spotted one of Steve's figures getting listed by this person. There are others listed, I have seen released on here, but I don't recall who! some of you will know the company releases and can tip them off.
cheers

On Richies link I spotted models taken from...
Alpine
Young Miniatures
Life Miniatures
Romeo Models

I don't know the manufacturers in person so please pass the word if you know who to tell.
Cheers

Ebay report done via web and phone...now I got to join the VERO programme !!!!! and I hardly sell on ebay !!!

The 2 kits that he has of mine have slowed dramatically of late,,,one I kinda expected the other was doing very well until the last month. The future of both products is now in the balance.

Here is a run down of what it takes to bring a bust from carl to market.... read and weep !!!!

1 Hours of looking and research,,,,no cost

2 Books ordered to understand colour schemes, regimental history and the little bits that go into painting instructions. Variable cost but spread over a few kits its not too bad ,,,lets say £30

3 Master,,,cost £710

4 Rubber ,,2X Moulds £100 to £125 cost,, not time to mould it etc etc

5 Resin £4 per casting maybe less

6 £2 to cast,,,its what I pay somebody, sometimes when bizzy.

7 Box with labels £1,,,doesnt include cost of time to desprue and package

8 Boxart,,,, Anything from £200 to £350

A mould will last 25 to 35 casts the lower figure if you care,,,,,and a lot higher if you don't give a damn

In the present market place sales average about 40 to 60sales,,,great pieces will go over 100,,,this takes sometime to achieve.

These figures are not random !!! its what I take into account when I commission a piece. The other factor, before you think I am making a good living is that trade sales can take 50% of the sales at a Discount of 40%,,,this is my factoring of a product and why my Direct range will be growing !!!

Products are numerous and of great quality but sales because of this diversity are falling,,,,,too many cooks you might say. Add slime like artstudiojan the recaster and you start to get a problem.

This why every thing is made in China and India .
I am constructing a large Garden project at the mo , sandstone flags are from India and china , cost here is £450 a pallet , the wood for the shipping crates travels from America to India goes overland 1500 miles assembled in India where the stone is quarried packed travels 1500 miles back to the port , shipped to the UK English channel port ,transported to the land of the Rid heed and eventually reaches me in a somewhat crate off broken biscuits , no wonder this country is broke !!
How can this be profitable for the manufacturer ? simple he owns the factory the workers at the quarry live in little huts made from pallets and sleep in the dirt, cut and quarry stone in flip flops if they are lucky and shit behind a rock as these quarries are vast .

Who is to blame, we the customer for buying the product !! as a country we cannot survive when everything we buy is made abroad , everywhere you look things are made in China or India , in fairness to the chinese there stone product is of high quality but then again you feckup there you get shot in India youonly get a boot up the arse .
Cost to me for sorting this substandard product in lost man hours has negated any profit there was and I will lose money on the job but still will not buy recasts , but will never use this manufactures product again ; he just joins the ever growing blacklist .

On a footnote I have been offered 13 pallets of high quality stone flags which should cost £16128 for £7560 how the fek can the supplier discount this high when the product comes all the way from China . labour force costs peanuts .
Polish re-casters building trade workers working for half the going rate driving prices down , I intended working till I was 70 ; only four years to go  thank goodness.

As stated I love what I do ,,,,its a small hobby and full of friends far and wide. I hope to continue and push harder to entice you to buy my products but the writing is on the wall for at least one of these kits.

Thanks all for your support

Stuart

I forwarded this thread to my sales person at Andrea Depot USA. Looks like the guy is hitting them as well. I hope the affected artists and manufacturers can do something to help put a stop to it. Ebay needs to get proactive on it.

(I manage a hobby shop. The internet hits us hard enough as it is - we certainly don't need this, as well!)

As I read Stu´s "Price list" for a bust I thought I read the list for a 54mm figure of my own range. It is for us "little"firms hard to get the money back for the produced figures. It is more a hobby for me and I have my own figures. But to see them as recasts at ebay or somewhere else as Stu´s ones is hard. But we have here in Germany some great electronic markets with a slogan "Geiz ist geil" = "Miserliness is horny" (hope it is the correct translation). And I fear too much people are looking only at the price for a figure and they don´t know nothing about the costs for a "original" figure or (better) they ignore it, only to get a cheap figure.

Stu : If I can do something please led me know
