As much as we all like a bargain...I seriously doubt if e bay or the suffering companies will/can ever stop this

Disgusting, in defence of stu I'm tempted to buy one in order to be able to give negative feedback. I will give the kit to stu, although out of pocket a few negative comments may hit him hard. I hate this, especially when sculpted and manufactured by 2 of my friends.

1,100 odd feedback in the past year, so the assumption is the same in sales, earning him around £15,000 maybe £10,000 after overheads
I don't know anything about the ins and outs of casting but I'm guessing he casts very small runs of a huge range of figures.
Seems like an awful lot of work for relatively small returns. If the quality of his casting is good you'd think the sensible thing would be commission a few pieces from reliable sculptors and legitimise the operation.

I told some months ago, dear friends (and I even got flames for it!!!): When the gate is opened to one earns money ... 100 will follow! In trading, the world nowadays is not that different from 5.000 years ago: With one key difference - the current distribution tools of eCommerce can easily put knock off's of just about anything at the consumer front door: And then just like at the dawn of times price will make the difference!

So please believe me: If you want novelties to come to this market in a nearby future (and nearby is 2016...17...) the only path is to wipe out distribution of illegitimate copies.

Don't flame the typing guy ... all markets work this way: Someone invests risk and money and launches an iPad ... others flood the market with tablets: Coping is always easier!

BTW: The exhibited miniature was the one my wife chose to gave me in my past birthday!!!

Solution - Just do Nazi figures with lots of swastikas and SS insignia. Then eBay wil pull recasts because selling 3rd Reich items is morally wrong? Eye roll.

Send him photocopied money as payment(a copy for a copy). I noticed a banner pop up saying 3 people per hour are viewing this product.

    That is brilliant Zane!

Only problem is there is more people looking after copied money than copied figures so I am pretty sure about who ends up in jail. Well, at least we'll have a smile on our face!

Seriously, can't we be creative in making some response to recasters, other than sharing our disgust?

Here's some ideas for your review:

    1. Each disgusted PF members sends the recaster 10 emails a day with a 10Mb attachment, cluttering his mailbox bigtime. Or simply keep him busy with questions, questions, and more questions. Are there PF members with hacker skills? One of those attachments could be a virus.

    2. Someone indeed buys one copy, publishes feedback and starts an eBay claim (it's a recast after all) turn the system against
him (or her!). Funds could be volunteered by the affected manufacturor, or by a rich figure protege (they are out here)

    3. Other ideas...??

There are hundreds(?) of active members. The burden is easily shared, and manufacturors should be happy to take action. (And If not, then why bother about recasters?).

Can we do something actively, ignore recasting as a minor nuisance, or all start buying from them as Bluethunder keeps predicting?

    Cheers,

After reading Adrian's post,a question we could ask ourselves: if the re-casters didn't exist would their clientele buy the orignal anyway or are they just bargain basement hunters who will always buy products made in China(or Poland in this instance)? - Food for thought.

He then takes the risk of whether or not there is market demand for the product - easier (and more profitable) to recast a successful product than to be left with a box of unsold harden resin. :(

There have been posts on here recently from a couple of UK suppliers suggesting that sales are relatively flat and that their ranges are being reduced as a consequence. The activities of the recasters & THEIR CUSTOMERS can only exacerbate the situation. Imagine the situation if suppliers such as those decide that it ain't worth remaining in business and close down with the consequent loss of existing product & also the loss of potential further work for their sculptors.
I guess that some of the recaster's customers will be feeling pretty smug having bought figures at a cheap price. They may even feel that somehow they've achieved a form of victory over the suppliers.

    Hi

Firstly many thanks to keith to bringing this to my attention. I would also like to thank you all for your kind words and support.

I have contacted / reported the items so its upto ebay now although I will be contacting them and paypal for more info etc and for their policies on assisting fraud and helping counterfeiting.

Its an age old problem and its not going to go away as people always want a cheap product. I run stormtroopers for fun and put high expectations on what I do and what I sell. I take pride in my small company. I hope I give good service ,cast great products well and back that up with support and try to go the extra mile for my customers.

This guy is killing my fun !!!! he is nothing but a t%&t, a slimey low life barstoolerd. I will try to sort this the proper way but if this fails I will resort to plan B.

Unfortunately it would seem that all my pictures are now going to have a stormtroopers logo blasted over them although its pretty obvious from the Hungarian t!&t that pics of the parts is all it takes to make people happy !!!! . I must be doing something seriously wrong !!!!!!!

I will be contacting my trade outlets to see if I can trace this slime ball as he hasn't bought them from me !!!

Unfortunately I doubt I can do nothing about this .....I have noted the large number of perfect English replies and the fact that people are very happy with his service. Funny they wouldn't have a service if it wasn't for me but heyho they really don't give a F,,,k about me do you !!!!!!!! Yes You the Buyer that is reading this also !!!!! You are the PROBLEM.

I will watch and wait,,,,,but if the fun aint there then,,,,,,,,

I did think that myself !!!! I suppose a PM would have resolved this and made me aware so that I could sort it.

Damned if you do damned if you don't,,, I suppose it is highlighting a problem in our hobby,,,, it also shows how people like recaster shite and maybe I don't really need to cast that well nor try too. All I need to do is put $10 long time baby on the box

You could try them at there own game, recast some of your figures, advertise them on Ebay under an alias, head them up "Cheap Recast Cr_p with no box art". at the least you would make a couple of bucks, at the most you would make people more aware of recasters.
