Finally finished a figure... :) whew...

Tried to paint it accurately and experimented on the gold lace on the arms and the collar. Not pleased with those results.

Everything else, I enjoyed and thought went well. So much so I started a 11th NY Fire Zouave figgie.

Comments, critiques and open discussion welcomed! :)

    Thanks for viewing...

    Keith,
you're much too hard on yourself, this turned out very nicely! Not to take away from the figure, but I'm with Maurizio, the grass is kick-butt! How did you do that? Keep it up!

Beautiful painting Keith. I like the gold lace on the collar and the cuffs. Wish mine looked that good. Agree with the others and would like to know how you did the grass. Really adds to the figure.

Guys- Thanks very much for the comments.

I am happy with how the grass turned out. Thanks again for noticing.
It is the NOCH brand model RR "Grass Floor". It comes in a small sheet. Easy to cut in what ever dimension you need. Wood glue to your base. Remember to keep some toothpicks in your figure mounting holes. :) You'll never find them if you don't!
I air brushed with several Vallejo ochre, green, and yellows. Stippled in various brown and yellow oils. After you have mounted your figure, use a toothpick to help the grass stand up around the feet.

Here is where I ordered the grass. I don't have local shops.

Looks great, Keith! Reminds me of his statue on the Manassas Battlefield...Almost "super hero" like in his pose.

Thanks, Jason. This is the nearest facial resemblance I have seen on any "real" historical figure. The face was very easy to paint.

    Marcin, Pete and Vergilius ---

Thank you for the kind comments. I am happy that the info and tips on the grass were useful. For once, I was happy with my groundwork. It was almost too easy. :)

Paul --- I appreciate the comments. It's NOCH model RR grass. Very easy to use. I gave a very brief description earlier in the thread.

Dan --- Thanks! It was fun trying to bring "Ole Blue Light" to life again.
