Here's something a little different. This is a United States Christian Commission Coffee Wagon, Petersburg, VA c.1864. Corporal, US Ambulance Corps, 5th Corps, Army of the Potomac, was converted from Art Girona Confederate Cavalry Sgt Major. Coffee Wagon & limber scratch built except for wheels which are by Armand Bayardi as is the empty ammo box. Nicknamed "The Christian Light Artillery"

Brilliant Rick, just great to see something completely off the wall. Lovely concept and great skill in the conversion.

Thanks for the comments. It was reported that the three 14-gallon boilers could produce 90 gallons of coffee per hour. The wagon made it to Lee's surrender at Appomattox but disappeared afterwards. The US Christian Commission disbanded in 1866 but apparently thier coffee wagon didn't survive the war. Several reproductions have surfaced over the years but no photos or plans for the original.

    Rick,

Very unique conversion and project. You also found an appropriate setting for the goofy but satisfied look of Latorre's figure.

Probably the best thing I have seen this year . I love the fact that most of it is scratch built and the figure is a conversion . Which tap gives expressooooo .
