Spanish Officer Rocroi 1645

Not long ago the newly founded company MINIATURAS FORTES released a figure depicting an officer of a Spanish Tercio at the Battle of Rocroi. The sculpt is losely based on a painting of the artist Ferrer-Dalmau.

    brief historical notes:
The battle was a decisive French victory when before Spanish reinforcements could arrive a French relief force forced a battle upon a Spanish army that had laid siege on Rocroi. Nevertheless the Spanish Tercios held their ground and were offered an exceptional condition of surrender that was usually granted only to besieged garrisons of fortresses at that time: The Spanish forces finally agreed to these terms and left the battlefield with deployed flags and weapons.

    Miniature by Diego Fortes:
The scale of the miniature is 75mm. Parts are cast in grey resin. My order was delivered quickly and I recommend the service of this company.
The miniature is accompanied by a picture of a built and painted sample and some historical notes. There is an option for an alternative head.
In my eyes the arms of the figure tend to be a bit on the short side. Also there is a difference in the rows of buttons on the sleeves: While the buttons face to the outside on the right sleeve they face the other way around on the left side.
All parts were cleanly cast and display crisp details. In my eyes you get very good value for your money.
    It is available from: http://www.miniaturasfortes.com/

    Conversion:
After removal of seamlines and testfitting I decided to convert the miniature slightly to get closer to the painting of Dalmau.
Here are the major changes shown on the picture that is provided with the figure:

... and here is my result so far:

Conversion was done with A&B putty.
All kinds of hobby-related comments welcome!
I hope to be able to show pictures of the painted figure soon.

    All the best! Martin

Looks like it'll be a fun figure to paint, lots of armour and leather, but a few nice frilly bits as well ;)
Looking forward to watching this one progress.

Some slow progress. Currently busy with the groundwork. I used the hat of the optional head and have still to do shadows and highlights on this one. Cannon ball is made from putty. So here we go with another walk around....

Why not? At least the painting of the last tercio at Rocroi offers several interesting subjects and I would like to extend this scene:).
