    As every one has mentioned superb painting on the figure , although the bamboo lance is far to thick and has no leather binding for a hand grip or wrist sling but this is down to the scultor and not you . But for me the the lance is painted to much like wood , I would have like to see a more yellowish/green colouring more like bamboo .

    Mmm...
    The images of bamboo I saw as reference had a range of tones that went from that greenish tone to something almost chocolate. The ones in reference books, portraying lances, were the color of the one painted. Keep in mind:
    1. The cane is dried, so the color should loose somewhat that tone.
    2. The bamboo wood received a hardening treatment with fire that makes it look like this:
