    Hi All,
My current project. A nice buste from IBRIS miniatures.

This buste has some positive points and some negatives
The face is very nice and the it paints very well. the Rifle is very sharp and the scope is 3d printed which has beautiful details.
I'm not impressed with the sculpting of the body it is a rough don't have a lot of details. But I will try to make the best of it.
For now I'm working on the face

    Hi there

Thanks for posting the picture ....it certainly does look a bit rough especially when comparing similar subjects from other companies

Look forward to seeing what you do with this

    Happy benchtime

Yes, the body don't match the quality of the head and weapon. But being the face and the Nagant the focus points, I'm sure you will end with a great figure.
The painting of the face is looking really good.

Great work! Looks like the casting was a challenge all by itself.

Nice to see the torso with colour

Despite the comments ref the body it's coming on well ....with camo it should work well

Really nice touch adding the red ribbon

    Look forward to seeing more

Well I must say this isn’t the greatest buste i’ve seen but I still try to make the best of it.
The hands and arms are still in progress.
The cap needs some more highlights.

    The Rifle is done

    Hi there

Thanks for the updates as you say not the best ŵork on the torso but your doing a good job ....are you putting camo on it as well ?

Rifle looks good , like the metal effects

If I may the cap doesn't seem to be sitting too high from the hair at side

    Happy benchtime

Thnx Nap, the cap is one of the many sculp errors and I doesn't fit right. However I like the idea and I leave it this way.

Because I didn't like the back I decided to add the mantle and paint it Khaki/Beige.

It was a real challenge to make it interesting and coverup the bad sculpting.

I still have to do some touchups but the end is near :)

You recognize a good sculptor (and painter) by the way they make the hands. I am sorry to say but in this bust, they are just awful.
You did the best you could with the sculpt. Congrats !

Really nice paintjob! I'll stay tunned for the final result.
I really like the wood, could you tell me briefly how did you paint it?

  17. VisjeMar A Fixture

    Thnx all.

@ Peter, the base of the wood was acrylic, I've painted a sort of wood grain.
    IMG_4713.jpeg
Over this I added burn umber oils and wiped it off with the grain.

after one night I added a acrylic vernis which " eats" some bits of the oil parts and leave some chips.

The metallic is simpel black with grafiet powder

Thanks for the recipe. The wood grain looks really convencing. Did you use satin varnish?
