For the 1969 Indy 500 Smokey Yunick hired Joe Leonard to drive his 1969 Gurney Eagle. I sculpted these figures about two years ago to go with the Eagle kit I produced and last week I finally got the guts up to paint them ( painted with oils ), scale is 1/25th

Love the subject matter! Smokey Yunick was quite the legend. He was perhaps the best example of how to gain an advantage while still staying within the letter of the rules - if not their intent! He is the kind of automotive legend that America loves so well - a guy willing to always bend the rules to achieve his final goal - to win!
