Hi all,
I started this guy once before but was never happy with the face. Today I stripped him back and started again so here he is after 2hrs work.
Feel free to critique, and thanks for looking in.

Andrew, I took this down to 20% to get a better idea of the 'look'...... brilliant, and all in 2 hours. The eyes are great....you almost get a sense of an actual reflected image.
Should be a cracker when finished.

Sturm the catch lights in the eyes aren't painted there is a coat of clear gloss over the eyes.

Eduardo those dots are something I add to most of my busts, just to make the skin look a little rougher in texture. I haven't put the last few washes on the face yet so they are a bit dark at the moment but should get lighter and not stand out so much... Hopefully.

Great work Andrew. Glad that you also don't paint catchlight. They look awefull and unrealistic. A great coat of gloss varnisch does it better.
Now it really look that the eyes are living................Perfect.

Great work, Andrew.I really like the spattered effect you have on your work, but I'd remove it from the lips to define those separately and perhaps put a few lines in them instead.
But excellent work on the eyes and the face overall.
I'd also reduce your pics a little to give a better idea of how it appears to the eye 'in the flesh' so to speak.

Seems a flat figure...

He's looking the biz now Andrew. Extremely nice painting. Nice tones and the eyes look great.
The gold braiding looks extremely well painted.

Wow, that makes a great difference! superb painting Andrew. Test 1 is the best pic IMO. Even a touch larger would work OK.
