Hi folks

Inspired by the threads and result by Neal's ( aka Canonball )

https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/sgt-6th-inniskilling-dragoon’s-1901.158793/

Review before the rounds added to bandolier https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/6th-inniskilling-dragoon-from-micks-micks.98079/

I decided to finally paint my basecoated version ( only took 4 years ! ) and YES!!...no medals

I did add a musketry badge though

Currently since the first pic I have redone the eyes from looking forward to looking to his left

Started laying on the shadows ...lots to do but will paint up the fleshwork as its such a character face ......thinking about giving him a 'unshaven look' ...we shall see

Some references

Do need to find out if they wore any flashes on the helmet

Many colour variations due to wear which is good

Neals excellent nearly completed version

Looking good! I like these boer war cavalry figures, I don’t suppose you’ve seen any imperial yeomanry ones about?

Thanks

As for Yeomanry , have a look at 1879 Miniatures , this was this released a long while ago by Stormtroopers , easily converted to IY but going to be hard to get

Good book

Another version of the water bottle ..with leather strap

IMG_2474.JPG

I have added a helmet flash ...it will be yellow background with a 6 above a D .......not often used due to aiming mark for Boer snipers but adds interest

Based on this showing for 1RD

Essentially the same uniforms as the regulars, but with different helmet flashes and regimental distinctions. Soon into the Boer campaigns, many of these were removed as they proved to be aiming marks for snipers....(y)

that will all cames good with you ;) but not sick hé no medals strange,I can't believe it :p

Lovely figure from a great period of history which I'm sure will turn out great in your capable hands.

Cheers Simon

It is a nice figure ...not so sure about " capable " though....

Fleshwork coming on nicely

It's about time you started this and it's off to a good start too.
Nice reference pics too.

Your right there Bob ......it's a big piece to hold when painting but should look good

Thanks for looking in ....hope we see more from you ...soon

Have FUN @ the bench

Nap

Good start, can't keep up with the speed you paint.
I'm out of breath.

Malc

No speed painting here mate !

Been working on the flesh .......bit more to do , highs ,stubble , add shadows when helmet is in place ...going for a tanned look ! ....with hair ...slightly graying

All thoughts and ideas welcome

obviously not the 6th but 17th later 17/21 Lancers

IMG_2567.JPG 6th badge ?

Nap

Nap, the slouch hat idea is great, bear in mind they didn't remain pristine for long under campaign conditions but too much deterioration might not be the best look on a bust.

Cheers Simon
