The is based on the character played by Brad Pitt in the film "Fury"
It's been in GA for a long time so I thought it was about time I painted it.

At this stage I've painted in some of the main flesh tones, I'll go back to it tomorrow
to add some more detail, although I don't want to overdo it and keep the tones subtle.

I hesitate to mention this but he looks a little cross eyed, mind you sitting in a Sherman and taking a glancing shot from from a Tiger would probably have that effect. His skin tones look like they are off to a good start.

Yes, you're right he is a bit cross-eyed, sadly this down to the way the eye has been angled in the sculpt.
I think it wouldn't look right if I tried to adjust it, and the box art is painted in the same way, so I'm going to leave it as is.

I have this kit as well and I agree. Still a good kit and carry on, I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Yes, a good sculpt and a good film, which I'll be watching again soon, to get some inspiration.

    Hi Steve
It doesn't detract on how good the bust is, I'm looking forward to making progress on him.

Cheers Nap, This is going to give me a bit of a challenge, I've not painted much in the way of WW2 figures.

Nice start on the flesh Malc. I have to agree with Simon, he does look a bit cross eyed. You have a strong black edge to the left pupil (as you look at his face) which makes it look like that eye is looking more to the side than the other eye IMO. Maybe toning that down might reduce the effect?

A little more work to the flesh tones adding a bit more contrast, but still trying to keep it subtle.
I've also added more detail to the side of his head where it's shaved.
I may add more detail, but I'll wait until the head is fitted to the torso and see how it looks when the jacket is painted.

    Cheers Nap.
For the stubble I used the flesh basecoat Vallejo Brown Sand and added a little Vallejo chocolate Brown.
Once dry I mixed in some Vallejo Dark Sand to lighten, and used an old round dry brush that's now good for stippling to produce the stubble effect.
This was followed by a couple of washes to tone it down.
