I’ve wanted to do a light infantryman from the 40th Regiment of foot for some time. This figure is not your typical “redcoat”. The uniform worn by this figure is far from the impractical parade ground type dress associated with British regulars of the period. This 1/24 figure is being sculpted with Aves Apoxie sculpt and green "Duro" type two part putty.

Here's the initial stage of sculpting. The first photograph shows the pose, minus smile face that will not be included. Because of the positioning of the left leg it looks odd at different camera angles. I can assure you both legs are the same length.

Great subject, Gary! And the 40th Regt.'s website has a bunch of good pics. I have taken pics of the 40th at Redcoats & Rebels (Old Sturbridge Village) each of the past three years - if you want to look at these images, just let me know. Among the many things I like about these reenactors, there are NO 38-inch waistlines to be seen amongst the group. Young guys, with athletic bodies. Anyway, I'm hoping that this figure will become commercially available, and that a copy can join my growing shelf of 75mm/1/24 RevWar figures!

A sneak peek. The figure is a little further ahead than this.

Gary, you know I'll be all over this one. Love the scale and subject. One thing though...you mentioned the legs looking odd at different camera angles. I don't think that it's the legs. It looks like the shoulders are parallel to the hips. Maybe a little contrapposto would help.

Looks great Gary but I really think you missed a trick by not using the original face as seen here :shifty:

Yeah, you may be right. it could end up being the figure's downfall. :(

The crossbelts are done for the most part except for the bayonet belt plate. The other end of the sash that is hanging down will be a separate piece.
