Scythian king, 4th c. BC. One of the earliest figures of the Italian company PEGASO, 60 mm. I first saw the figurine in the May 1995 issue of the British Military Modeling magazine. Nevertheless, even today I consider this one of the best PEGASO in the 54-60 mm line. It remains to be surprised how at that time they were able to make such a jewelry pectoral, akinak sheath and armor decorations without using 3D technology.
The figure was sculpted by etremely talanted Adriano Laruccia exactly according to the drawing of the legendary Angus McBride (Memory Eternal to him) from the Osprey issue of Men-at-arms No. 137 The Scythians, 700-300 BC, by E.V. Chernenko, and M.V. Gorelik. They apparently also advised the artist. Also Eternal Memory to both Masters.
In the process of work, it seemed that the figure looked a little lonely. Therefore, he decided to give the king a chipped war horse. I had in my box an unfinished 1/30 scale horse figurine intended for a planned 6th-century Persian cataphractary, which I never got around to sculpting. So I took it - finished it, painted it and installed it. IMG_1729.JPG IMG_1728.JPG IMG_1727.JPG IMG_1726.JPG IMG_1725.JPG IMG_1724.JPG
