I found out about this book through another figure site. It looks to be a very good reference. Check out the sculptures on the link they are fantastic pieces of figurative art. I know the scale is larger than what we're concerned with here, but looks valuable none the less.~Gary

Inspiring stuff Gary, thanks for the link. Some of his studies remind me of Messerschmidt's work, have you seen his incredible "character heads"?

I checked on their workshops and one is coming not too far from me. Have any of you attended one of these sort of things? I'm thinking about it.

    Hello Johan,
Gave the bargain mongol away.........too much work......
and it would still be basicly the same kit.

I am getting well into this sculpting thing, the idea of producing
    something oridginal really appeals.

everything is well here, and I hope it is so for you

John, do you have Ken Sullivan's email address? He might be the best man to ask about that sort of thing.

    Hi,

I've got this videocassette: 'The Art of Sculpting with Philippe Faraut
Volume 2: Expressions and Facial Construction'. I recommend it to all you folks. It is really helpful. I don't remember exact number now, but the author showed and sculpted more than five heads with different features (young, old, Indian, Afro, Asian and more). And what's more is long and not like other videos there is no needless fillers used only to expand video's time.
If want to improve your heads' sculptures, it's a real 'a must buy'.
