Still very much in progress, these 54mm flats from Fredericus Rex will represent Semphill's Regt. in a little vignette.

That depth on the red is really working well - particularly the figure on the right.

This is an awesome vignette, Roger! Love it!
Painting looks great, so far and I'm sure it will be a supper class execution when done.
I have a suggestion. I think that putting the figures more close to each other and a little bit offset from the center of the base will brake the symmetry and it will look better as a composition. Just my 2 cents.

The red is a basecoat of Vermillion Hue.
Shadows, Vermillion Hue + Phthalo Green (Blue shade).
Deepest shadow, Paynes Grey added to the same mix.
Highlights will be Vermillion + Cadmium Orange.

Nice start. The red looks very good. Can only agree with Zeno. Not on one line and a litte bit out of the Center (if possible)

Thanks Ulrich. The figures are back on a piece of card for painting. They were just stood on the base quickly to give a basic idea of the final scene... no need for you and Zeno to worry...... yet.

Nice start Roger. As said the reds look good. I like the tone of yellow you've developed. How do you shade yellows? With a dark red, like a burnt cadmium?

Thanks Colin. I usually shade yellow with Dioxazine Purple, good stuff and sounds like a recreational drug.

Thanks Marc, the 54mm figs from Fredericus Rex are only engraved on one side, however it doesn't stop Richie and Dennis checking the reverse at our club meetings though, I don't think they believe me.
